Established in 2009, Barry Beaux was started by local designer Frances Barry. She was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, SC and has always loved the low country look and had an interest in fashion. Frances Barry started Barry Beaux while studying fashion merchandising at Georgia Southern University. The name Barry Beaux comes from Barry her last name and Beaux meaning handsome in French. The shrimp logo comes from the shrimp boat fleet in Shem Creek, a local creek in Mt. Pleasant which is her main source of inspiration.
