How to Save Money on your Wedding Rentals

Wedding rental costs can add up quickly. Tables, chairs, linens, glassware, decor…there are a lot of things you’ll need for your wedding! It’s understandable if you’re worried about going over your wedding budget with the rentals, but there are some useful steps you can take. Here are a few ways you can save money on your wedding rentals.

Do Your Research

It will take some extra time, but in order to get the best prices on wedding rentals in your area, you’ll want to do some research to compare prices across vendors. Start by making a list of the rentals that you’ll need, and see what those items cost at each of those vendors.

Be sure to check if any of the vendors have any packages, as well. If you rent using a package deal, you may be able to shave a few dollars off the final bill. That said, there is a caveat: a rental package may only be feasible for larger weddings. If you have fewer guests but the package requires you to rent more items than you actually need, you’ll likely end up paying more.

Limit the Number of Vendors You Use

To the best of your ability, try to use as few rental vendors as you possibly can – one vendor for all of your rentals is ideal! With each new vendor you bring on board, you’ll have to pay extra for delivery and labor. By sticking with a small amount of vendors, you’ll be able to cut down on those additional costs.

Choose String Lights Over Chandeliers

Chandeliers are beautiful, but larger light installations can be particularly pricey to rent. You can still create a gorgeous, ambient glow by using string lights in your venue. You’ll get the romantic light without the huge price tag!

Use Simple But Elegant Glassware

It’s typically the more budget-friendly choice to opt for simpler glassware. If you’re set on having glassware that has a unique style, you can have some glassware (like the drinking glasses) that are more simple, and others (like champagne flutes or cocktail glasses) that are more stylized. Besides saving you money, simple glassware is timeless and elegant – it won’t detract from the aesthetic of your wedding!

Rent a More Budget-Friendly Tablecloth

You don’t need to go for the top-tier tablecloths for your wedding. There will be so many other items on the tables – like plates, glassware, napkins, and decor – that guests won’t even notice them. Go for a cheaper tablecloth option to save some money.

Reuse the Chairs

Rather than renting separate seating for the ceremony and the reception, use the same chairs for both portions of the celebration. You can have some trusted friends help move the chairs over, or even have the rental company or caterers help out (this may cost extra, but will likely still be less than renting two sets of chairs). Of course, this option will only work if your cocktail hour is in an area that is out of the way so that the chairs can be seamlessly transitioned over to the reception space.
