The Pros and Cons of a Hotel Wedding

Hotels are excellent and versatile venues for a wedding – but they do have a few drawbacks. If you’re thinking about using a hotel as your wedding venue, here are the pros and cons that you’ll want to consider!

The Pros of a Hotel Wedding

  • You’ll likely spend less money on rentals: Typically, hotels have many – if not all – of the rental items you might need, including tables, chairs, linens, and more. They may include these rentals as part of the wedding package, but ultimately, that likely will end up being less than if you have to go with a separate rental company. Plus, it streamlines the whole rental process, which means less stress for you!
  • You may get room block deals: You’ll likely be able to get a great deal on room blocks in the hotel where you’re throwing your wedding. If guests are already staying at your venue, you also won’t need to provide transportation!
  • You can host other wedding weekend activities at the hotel: Hotels typically have other restaurants, bars, and spaces for entertainment, so you may be able to host all activities at a single venue. You may even be able to get a deal if you book a space in the hotel for another wedding-related event, such as the rehearsal dinner or a brunch the day after the wedding.
  • You’ll have access to convenient and high-quality facilities: At a hotel, you’ll have everything you need at your fingertips: parking, ample restrooms, a space to get ready before the ceremony, and more. Plus, hotels are generally great at maintaining these facilities for guests that stay there. This means you can be confident you’ll have all of the premium facilities that you need.

The Cons of a Hotel Wedding

  • You may not get a ton of privacy: Unless you’ve rented the entire hotel, the place will still be operating as usual – which means other people will be on the property. Depending on the layout of the hotel, you may have a few hotel guests looking in on your celebration. This may make your wedding feel a little less intimate.
  • You may have less flexibility with vendors: This varies from hotel to hotel, but some venues require you to use certain vendors, such as the caterer they have on-site. This means that, if you’re set on using specific vendors, a hotel wedding might not be the right choice for you. Of course, talk to the venue coordinator to see what their policies are on outside vendors.
  • The venue may not feel super unique: It can be hard to make a hotel venue feel unique and personal, especially if you’re using the rentals they already have on-site. That said, there are a few things you can do to make the space feel more like your own – check out this article for tips!
